Students in Mr. Richardson’s fourth grade class in Brockport’s Hill Elementary School were the first class in 57 years to be back in the Academy (aka Clarkson Schoolhouse #2).
A total of 11 classes visited on field trips from October 23 to November 13.
They sat at the old school desks on the second floor of the Academy building and practiced writing in cursive and participating in a reading group, reading a story from a 1950s school book.
One student from each class got to ring the original school bell, and all seemed to enjoy the experience as much as members of the Clarkson Historical Society enjoyed having them visit.
