Conditions were perfect for Quest’s Annual Sled Race

Quest Elementary School’s Sled Race 2014 featured model sleds with traditional sled features (runners, platform, etc.) built and decorated by the students. Classes also helped teacher Greg Booth build  slick track that stretched across the back of the school. The wintery day provided the perfect conditions for the race as students crowded around the track and cheered on their favorite sled.

The winner of primary race was “Lightening Cheetah” from Judy Fuller’s class; the winner of the elementary race was “Diamond Racer” from Randy Lagree’s class; and the winner of the intermediate race and Grand Champion was “Smiley” from David Moore’s class.

Each model sled complied with a set of predetermined guidelines. Teacher Greg Booth works with students every year to build a track and run the sled race, which gives them the opportunity to apply their math, teamwork and technical skills.
