Maple SugarFest is a anticipated sign of spring
The Spencerport School District’s Nature Center hosts its second Maple SugarFest from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 1.
Highlights include a Maple Sugaring demonstration; an orienteering event run by Rochester Orienteering Club; naturalist-led walks; and pancake breakfast. Children’s crafts and activities such as make your own bird feeder, face painting, a nature-touch table, and snowshoeing will be offered.
The pancake breakfast will be served from 9 to 10 a.m. at the high school’s east cafeteria. Cost of the breakfast is $5 per person with children 5 and under free. Pre-event tickets for the breakfast can be purchased on the Community Education website. Tickets will also be sold at the door. All other activities and events are free.
Maple SugarFest volunteers are comprised of High School Academy students, community volunteers, and district employees. The High School Academy students worked with Common Core Learning Standards as they prepared for their Maple SugarFest participation.
