Hilton CSD names School-Related Professional of the Year
Bonnie Chiella, college and career secretary at Hilton High School, was named School-Related Professional (SRP) of the Year at the staff convocation at Hilton High School on September 2.
Her coworkers describe Chiella as “always positive and having a warm, approachable way about her.” Her job requires much of the “behind the scenes” work for graduation, freshman orientation, awards ceremonies, SAT and ACT testing, the college application process, Decision Day and military recruitment meetings. For the graduation ceremony, for example, Chiella coordinates diploma types, puts together the program and communicates with counselors, administrators and outside organizations to ensure that the district has a positive and well-run ceremony.
Throughout the year, Chiella also counsels, advocates for and gives sound advice to students, parents and teachers regarding students who are in the critical phase of preparing for college.
The other SRP of the Year finalists were: Karen Keymel, AP secretary at Hilton High School; Lora Leo, teaching assistant at Merton Williams Middle School; Grace Lobel, teaching assistant at the high school; and Kathy Neefe, teaching assistant at Village Elementary School.
The SRP of the Year Award is presented to a staff member who displays exceptional skill and dedication on the job and promotes positive relationships with parents, students, co-workers and the community. Recipients receive an “Outstanding Employee Award” certificate, pin and designated parking spot to recognize their achievements.
