The Kiwanis Club of Brockport sponsored this year’s “Read Around the World” program at the Seymour Library. Students in Brockport elementary grades kindergarten through fifth were invited to participate in a bookmark contest which was judged by library staff and members of the Kiwanis Club. From the designs submitted, winners for each grade level were chosen and the winning designs printed and distributed to library patrons. There were 170 entries in this year’s contest.
On the day the winners are announced, all students receive a soft cover book and the winners receive a hard cover book. All books are appropriate to the students’ ages. The Kiwanis Club then sponsors an ice cream social which this year was enjoyed by 200 students and parents.
This year’s winners were: Kindergarten and first – grade – Jose Angel Vazquez III, second and third grade – Josephine Belde and fourth and fifth grade – Laura Bishop.
