The Northwood Elementary School Advanced Band placed first in the Concert Band A Division at the Darien Lake Music Festival on May 9. The band also received the “Outstanding with Distinction” certificate – an award reserved for the highest scoring ensembles in the competition. Thirty-four music ensembles from school districts around New York State competed in the event.
The 74 members of the Northwood Advanced Band are fifth and sixth graders, and are under the direction of Hilton School District faculty member Tim Stodd.
