Margaret A. McGrath Charitable Foundation awards $63,500 in scholarships to 18 local students
The Margaret A. McGrath Charitable Foundation awarded 18 scholarships totaling $63,500 to local students for the 2015-2016 academic school year.
The Foundation offers two types of scholarships to residents of the Towns of Sweden and Hamlin. The Philip and Margaret Dollard Business Scholarship is awarded to those majoring in business and the Marie Dollard McGrath Elementary Education Scholarship is awarded to those majoring in elementary education.
This year’s recipients of the Philip and Margaret Dollard Business Scholarship are:

•Victoria Farrell (Hamlin) – Rochester Institute of Technology
•Jami Barber (Hamlin) – SUNY Fredonia
•Kyle Zaffuto (Sweden) – St. John Fisher College
•Tania Arellano (Hamlin) – Roberts Wesleyan College
•Sarah Heyden (Hamlin) – SUNY Brockport
•Shannon Reagan (Sweden) – SUNY Brockport
•Michael Knapp (Hamlin) – Houghton College
•Brett Mickey (Sweden) – Niagara University
•Cody Travis (Hamlin) – St. Bonaventure University
The recipients of the Marie Dollard McGrath Elementary Education Scholarship are:
•Serafina Breslawski (Sweden) – Buffalo State College
•Lysa Hoyt (Sweden) – Roberts Wesleyan College
•Brooke Hare (Sweden) – SUNY Brockport
•Alexandara Bradshaw (Hamlin) – Niagara University
•Jakob Bartalo (Sweden) – Syracuse University
•Taylor Kingsbury (Hamlin) – St. John Fisher College
•Megan Wegman-Cole (Sweden) – Niagara University
•Solera Sherry (Hamlin) – Buffalo State College
Margaret A. McGrath established the Foundation in 2004 under her will to provide scholarships to residents of the Towns of Sweden and Hamlin who have chosen to pursue a degree in either business or elementary education. The Foundation has awarded $508,000 in scholarships since its formation.
