Kendall Schools on college board’s AP Honor Roll
Kendall Central Schools (KCS) recently qualified as one of 425 school districts in the U.S. and Canada for placement on the College Board’s Sixth Annual AP® District Honor Roll.
The district received this honor for increasing access to AP courses while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams since 2013. Placement on the Sixth Annual Honor Roll indicates that a district successfully identifies motivated, academically prepared students who are ready for the opportunity of AP.
“I am so pleased and proud of our students and staff for being recognized with this honor,” said Julie Christensen, school superintendent. “Kendall is one of the few districts recognized in NYS. This honor reflects the hard work of each Kendall School community member, our parents and of course, our students.”
Kendall offers five AP courses: Calculus, U.S. History, World History, Biology and English. Sixteen to 39 percent of the students enrolled in the courses take the AP exams each year, with the district covering the cost of the exam.
In 2015, more than 3,800 colleges and universities around the world received AP scores for college credit, advanced placement and/or consideration in the admission process, with many colleges and universities in the U.S. offering credit in one or more subjects for qualifying AP scores.
