Brockport CSD Board of Education passes resolution for budget revote

At a special meeting held on Tuesday, May 31, the Brockport Central School District Board of Education passed a resolution for a revote of the 2016-17 proposed budget presented to voters on May 17.

The same $78,888,200 proposed budget, including a revised contingent budget of $77,222,753, will go up for a revote on Tuesday, June 21. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Technology and Training Center.

Community members will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposed budget at a public hearing on June 7 at 7 p.m. in the Fred W. Hill School cafetorium. Budget information can also be found on the district website at www.bcs1.org/budget.

Background
The proposed school budget of $78,888,200 was defeated on May 17, with 625 votes in favor and 882 opposed. Under New York State law, when a proposed school budget is defeated, the Board of Education can go to the voters with the same budget, a modified budget, or directly adopt a contingent budget.
