Monroe 2 – Orleans Career and Technical Education Students will play a role in a year-long community celebration. The Town of Ogden and Village of Spencerport are both commemorating significant anniversaries in 2017. The town will celebrate its bicentennial and the village its sesquicentennial with a monthly special event.

BOCES 2 students in the Carpentry Program and the Engineering and Metal Fabrication Academy at WEMOCO will produce a memento to present to the town and the village at a special ceremony on Saturday, April 29 at Spencerport High School. A rendering of the design for the memento is pictured. The project is being incorporated in the students’ curriculum and is in production.

In addition to the event in April, the year-long celebration will include walking tours of the village, a hoedown with an ox and pig roast and a ghost walk. Events will be published each month in the Suburban News. Any questions, contact David Haines at 490-4751.
