Spencerport wins FIRST Robotics regional, qualifies for world championship

The Spencerport Ranger Robotics Team 3015 won the Finger Lakes Regional FIRST Robotics Competition on March 18, and qualified once again for the world championship competition in St. Louis. This is the fifth time in eight years that Spencerport qualified to compete in the world championships, with last year taking second place.

At the regionals, the Ranger Robotics were presented with the prestigious Engineering Inspiration award, which recognizes outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school or organization and community.

The Ranger Robotics team competed in the Buckeye Regional in Cleveland, Ohio, the weekend of March 30 through April 1, and will head to St. Louis for worlds on April 26 through 29.

NY FIRST inspires young people to lead in science and technology, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, leadership and entrepreneurship.
