Brockport Hill students’ work published by The America Library of Poetry

Six Hill School fifth-graders are now nationally-published poets. Daniel Sidore, Naomi Stroup, Gianna Matthews, Paige Ireland, Kailah Murch and Audrey Bazinet wrote poems last year in Natalie McCue’s, Melissa Norment’s and Julie Wilson’s fourth-grade language arts class. McCue submitted the poems to a national contest.

The contest, offered by the America Library of Poetry, is an annual contest for students in grades 3 through 12. Submissions are reviewed by a panel of judges and winners are selected based on originality, creativity and artistic quality.

The 2017 winning poems were published in “Treasured, 2017 Student Poetry Collection,” a book intended to bring critical acclaim to the work of many exceptional young authors from across the United States. Out of the thousands of submissions received by The America Library of Poetry, less than 20 percent were selected for publication.
