Hilton CSD School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election May 21

The Hilton Central School District 2019-21 School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election will be held Tuesday, May 21 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Hilton High School (Parma, Clarkson and Hamlin residents) and Northwood Elementary School (Greece residents).

The $80,891,334 budget proposal is a 1.80 percent decrease from last year’s budget, which, if approved by voters, will result in an estimated 1.72 percent tax rate increase in Greece and Parma, a 6.42 percent decrease in Clarkson due to the town’s equalization rate increasing from 92 percent to 100 percent; and a 0.24 percent decrease in Hamlin due to the town’s equalization rate decreasing from 100 percent to 93 percent. A home in the Hilton School District valued at $100,000 will see an estimated tax bill increase of $39.

 In addition to the budget proposition, district residents are being asked to vote on a $1,044,600 bus purchase proposition, authorization to establish a $4,000,000 Capital Reserve Fund, and three open positions on the Board of Education. The candidates are Stephanie Bedenbaugh, Therese Flannery, and incumbents Mark Hilburger and Nancy Pickering. The three candidates with the most votes will serve three-year terms of office beginning July 1.

Details of the budget are available on the Hilton District website at Hilton.k12.ny.us/Budget. A budget newsletter was mailed to residents and additional copies are available in all of the schools.

Hilton High School is located at 400 East Avenue, Hilton, and Northwood Elementary School is located at 433 North Greece Road, Hilton. Voters must have been registered with the Monroe County Board of Elections or with the Hilton School District by May 14 in order to vote on May 21. Handicapped accessible parking is available.
