The Northwood Elementary School Advanced Band in Hilton placed first in the Darien Lake Music Festival held at the Six Flags Darien Lake Theme Park on May 11. Northwood was among over 30 bands and choirs participating in the event. Competing in the Elementary Band division, Northwood scored a 98.25 (out of 100), which also earned them the “Outstanding with Distinction” recognition, a unique award reserved for the highest scores in the competition. The Northwood Advanced Band is comprised of students in grades four through six, and is directed by Hilton CSD faculty member Tim Stodd.
