Wheatland-Chili educator named Chemistry Teacher of the Year

JoAnne Iovoli has been named the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) Rochester Area Chemistry Teacher of the Year. Iovoli teaches Advanced Placement (AP) Biology and Chemistry, and the electives of plant science and landscaping classes at Wheatland-Chili High School. She applies the principles of green chemistry to reduce the use of chemicals used and chemical waste generated while teaching students a safe sustainable way to learn a lesson. 

Iovoli has taught at Wheatland-Chili for 20 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, a Master’s Degree in Education from The College at Brockport and teaching certifications in 7-12 General Science, Chemistry, and Biology. The Rochester Section of the American Chemical Society will be presenting the award to JoAnne Iovoli at the ACS Recognition Dinner in October 2019. The award includes a year-long membership to the AACT (American Association of Chemistry Teachers).
