Brockport Night Out strengthens trust between students and law enforcement
Students at The College at Brockport had an opportunity to engage with local law enforcement on a different level September 18. The College hosted “Brockport Night Out” from 5 to 9 p.m. on the Campus Mall. The event’s goal is to build relationships and trust.
Hosted by Brockport’s Men of Color student organization, the College’s University Police department, and the Village of Brockport Police Department, “Brockport Night Out” is held in response to increased tension between minorities and law enforcement in recent years. There was food, music, and games – all designed to encourage interaction between the officers and the student body.
It wasn’t all fun and games, however. It was also an opportunity for the students to learn important safety and awareness information and violence prevention tactics.
