Churchville-Chili seniors recognized by National Merit Scholarship Corporation

Churchville-Chili High School senior Audrey N. Kohlman has been named a semi-finalist in the prestigious 2021 competition for National Merit® Scholarships. Out of 1.5 million students nationwide who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) in 2021, only about 16,000 top scorers like Kohlman have qualified for semi-finalist status.

Seniors Ryan J. Hewitson and Julian A. Kaiser have received Letters of Commendation. Commended Students have achieved scores in the top five percent of all those taking the qualifying exam.

A spokesperson from the NMSC said, “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

The National Merit Scholarship Program is one of the most prestigious academic competitions for recognition and scholarships. It was established in 1955, and performance on the test has been used as a benchmark by colleges and scholarship organizations for decades.
