Scott Bischoping named Interim Superintendent at Byron-Bergen

Scott Bischoping was officially named Interim Superintendent of Byron-Bergen Central School District at the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, January 14. His first day is scheduled for February 1, 2021.

Bischoping holds his master’s degree and certificate of advanced study in Education Administration from the College at Brockport. His career includes 25 years with Livonia Central School District, and he retired as District Superintendent of Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES in 2019. He has since served as Interim Superintendent at Batavia City Schools, North Rose-Wolcott Central School District, and, most recently, Albion Central School District.

“I have heard great things about Byron-Bergen and look forward to working with the students, staff, Board, and community through the transition to a new superintendent,” said Bischoping.

This appointment follows the resignation of Mickey Edwards, who accepted a new position as Superintendent of Albion Central School District. “Leaving Byron-Bergen was a difficult decision,” said Edwards. “But knowing that the District will be guided through the remainder of the school year by such an experienced and respected educator sets my mind to rest. The Bees are in good hands.”

Bischoping will serve through the duration of the 2020-21 school year. A formal superintendent search will be managed by Genesee Valley Educational Partnership, with a new superintendent expected to begin in July.
