Four finalists selected in Spencerport school superintendent search

The Spencerport Central School District Board of Education has chosen four finalists for the district’s next top administrator. The finalists are Nerlande Anselme, Dr. Joseph Prisinzano, Kristin Swann, and Ty Zinkiewich.

Nerlande Anselme is Assistant Superintendent of Student and Family Services in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District, her work home since 2010. She was a Counselor and Coordinator of Student Support Services in Gates-Chili from 2001 to 2010.

Anselme is a dedicated, experienced, and passionate educator committed to fostering the academic, social and emotional growth of all students. A strong leader and good listener, she is skilled at taking ideas and bringing them to life. Few understand the power of public schools more than Ms. Anselme. Born in Haiti, she moved to the United States as a child. Public schools helped her become a driven, collaborative and motivated leader intent on improving the lives of children. 

Anselme holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, a Master of Science in College and Agency Counseling and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh. She obtained a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport and is fluent in three languages. She and her son, Georgenson, live in Greece.

Dr. Joseph Prisinzano

Dr. Joseph Prisinzano is Co-Principal/Assistant to the Superintendent at Jericho Union Free School District. In 24 years in the classroom, principal’s office, and central office in Oakfield-Alabama, Lancaster, Sweet Home, Niagara Wheatfield, and currently Jericho, Prisinzano has served as an administrator, teacher, mentor, coach, and musical director. He also founded a technology startup, donating all profits to charity. An avid softball player and self-anointed champion chicken wing and garbage plate eater, his most important job is as dad to a growing family with his wife, Maggy. 

Prisinzano has championed increased opportunities for all children while consistently raising achievement for students of color, students with disabilities, and English language learners through innovative programs and targeted interventions. He has created and nurtured award-winning Project Lead the Way, science research and student leadership programs in partnership with colleges and community; directed ranked computer science teams, a steel band, and T-ball teams; and created a new teacher program credited with increasing student achievement and tenure rates. Prisinzano received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University at Buffalo, Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Canisius College, Doctor of Education from Concordia University of Chicago and an advanced superintendent certificate from Howard University focused on impact policymaking and racial equity.

Kristin Swann is the Associate Superintendent for Educational Services in the Victor Central School District, a post she has held since 2013. From 2004-2013, Swann was the Director of Pupil Personnel Services for Victor CSD. Prior to that, she served as Coordinator of Special Education in the Greece CSD after beginning her career there as a school psychologist. Swann maintains a relentless focus on helping students succeed and creating access to quality educational programs for all students. 

Kristin Swann

Swann received a Bachelor of Science from Nazareth College, Master of Science in School Psychology from Rochester Institute of Technology, and Certificates of Advanced Study in School Psychology from Rochester Institute of Technology and Education Administration from the University of Rochester. She completed the Superintendent Development Program through the New York State Council of School Superintendents. Swann has served as a Board of Director for the Victor Chamber of Commerce. She is a founding partner of LifePrep@Naz, a post-graduate program offered to young adults with disabilities through the collaborative partnership among Nazareth College, Victor Central School District, and The Arc of Monroe County. Swann is married and has two sons, Michael and Matthew

Ty Zinkiewich currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in the Spencerport Central School District, a position he has held since 2011. From 2005 to 2011, he served as the principal at Spencerport High School. Zinkiewich’s other administrative positions include serving as the Jr./Sr. High School principal in Kendall and as an assistant principal and athletic director at Greece Odyssey Academy. Upon his arrival to the Rochester area, Zinkiewich served as a science teacher and coach in the Greece Central School District. 

Ty Zinkiewich

Zinkiewich holds a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and teaching certification through St. Bonaventure University. He earned his Master of Educational Leadership from Canisius College and completed the NYS Superintendent Development Program through SUNY Oswego. Zinkiewich and his wife Kari live in Hilton and together have four children, Taylor, Olyvia, Ashton and Karson.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank the students, staff and community members who completed our district survey and shared their feedback about what they’d like in a new superintendent,” said Board President Kevin Hutton. “Each of these finalists is an accomplished educator with extensive instructional and leadership experience. They bring a wealth of knowledge and proven track records of empowering student achievement, advancing educational excellence and providing a welcoming and affirming environment for all learners.” 

“The members of the Spencerport Board of Education have engaged in a thorough process to select distinguished finalists,” said Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES District Superintendent and Search Consultant Jo Anne L. Antonacci. “Even amid the challenges presented by the pandemic, the Board has been steadfast in their resolve to choose highly qualified candidates and stay on a timeline to have a new superintendent in place in July.” 

The four finalists are scheduled for individual day-long visits to district buildings during the week of March 15.
