Brockport teacher receives donation for classroom

To honor the creative efforts teachers have made to maneuver their ever-shifting learning environments and keep students engaged this past year, SONIC® Drive-In donated $1.5 million to teacher requests on national education nonprofit site DonorsChoose on Teacher Appreciation Day, May 4. As part of SONIC’s ongoing Limeades for Learning initiative, the $1.5 million donation helped fund more than 7,000 teacher requests across the country in need of critical resources, including one in Brockport.

Mrs. Postilli at Brockport’s Fred W Hill Elementary School received a combined donation of $61 from SONIC® towards her project, “Headphones to Get Ahead in School.” The entire $365 project has been fully funded through various donations and the headphones are already in use.

“These headphones are just right for our classroom. They are the perfect solution for keeping kids focused when they are working on an assignment that requires them to watch a video. The students also love the fact that they don’t have to be distracted by students without headphones anymore,” Mrs. Postilli said. “With the diversity of learning environments that learners have experienced in the past year, this project maximizes the benefits of audio-based learning activities.”
