Brockport CSD holding modified art show

The Brockport Central School District will hold a grade 6-12 Student Art Opening Reception for the public on May 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Brockport High School art hallway. Families of students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to attend between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., and families of students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Guests may park in the Brockport High School north parking lot behind the school or near the pool. The doors in the back of building will be open and clearly marked for the art show.

During the opening reception, Brockport High School will officially open the BHS Photography Hall of Fame. The photos are a collection of the best student images from the last 10 to 15 years. Images selected were based on their aesthetic/artistic quality and use of the guidelines of composition. The goal is to continue to add up to three photos each year to this exhibit.

BHS alumni photography includes the following featured artists (and year of graduation): Lyndsey Allen (2018), Rachel Benedict (2016), Kenzie Carter (2018), Dylan Devine (2021), Alahna Grady (2015), Abby Gurgel (2018), Samuel G-Piccione (2019), David Hammond (2007), Jared Hardies (2019), Brendan Jaccarino (2011), Michelle Jensen (2017), Alyssa Mahagan (2016), Cuauhtemoc Paz (2015), Amanda Smith (2015), and Noah Winslow (2016).

Brockport’s annual art show is modified this year for the health and safety of our school community. The grade 6-12 exhibit will be open during school hours for students, faculty and staff only, May 23 through 26. Artwork from K-5 students will be displayed by video this year. See the Ginther/Barclay/Hill webpages at the end of May to view their creativity and colorful pieces.

The district is hopeful that its Annual Art Show will resume in a more traditional way next year.
