Byron-Bergen High School announces new Assistant Principal

Byron-Bergen Jr./Sr. High School has announced Katie Grattan as the new Assistant Principal. In this position, she is responsible for leading and managing the academic and student affairs programming at the Jr./Sr. High School in collaboration with Principal Ashley John Grillo. Grattan has served in public education for 18 years.

“I’m pleased to welcome Mrs. Grattan as part of our Byron-Bergen team,” said Grillo. “Her experience and enthusiasm helped identify her as the perfect candidate for this position.”

Prior to this appointment, Grattan taught music at Letchworth Central Schools, Wheatland-Chili Central Schools, and Batavia City Schools. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from SUNY Fredonia, a Master of Music Education from Ithaca College, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building and School District Leadership from SUNY Brockport.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Byron-Bergen learning community and to build on the Bees tradition of excellence and student achievement,” said Grattan. “I have always sought to find ways for students to shine, have a sense of efficacy and belonging, and encourage them to live in a world where all things are possible.”

Outside of work, she enjoys art and music, snow skiing, boating, reading, and spending time with her family. She currently lives in Caledonia with her husband Bryan, ten-year-old daughter Avery, and golden retriever Daisy Sweet Potato.
