SUNY Brockport’s Addiction & Behavioral Health program ranked fourth-best in the U.S.

SUNY Brockport’s Addiction and Behavioral Health program has been ranked among the best in the nation. The Brockport program has been ranked No. 4 nationally by bestcounselingdegrees.net for training addiction counselors.

The rankings state that graduates of the program will have the education and clinical training to provide critical care to individuals struggling with alcohol and substance abuse. They’ll be able to evaluate, treat, provide education, provide appropriate referrals and meet the ethical standards of the profession. Brockport was also cited for offering unique electives, including “Criminal Justice and Addictions,” and “Grief and Loss for Alcohol and Other Drugs.”

The program, which is offered by the University’s Department of Healthcare Studies, is recognized by the New York State Office of Addictions Supports and Services as a certified education and training provider and is certified by the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Association of Addiction Professionals.

Brockport’s Department of Healthcare Studies has been providing educational programs to train addiction counselors and professionals since 1983.
