Choreography examining ourselves and others makes its debut in DANCE/Strasser

The Department of Dance at SUNY Brockport presents performances of DANCE/Strasser on Thursday, April 4, through Saturday, April 6, in the Rose L. Strasser Studio in Hartwell Hall on the Brockport campus. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for all performances are $17/general, $12/seniors, SUNY Brockport alumni, faculty, and staff, and $9/students and are available online at http://fineartstix.brockport.edu, by phone at 585-395-2787 or at the Tower Fine Arts Center Box Office, 180 Holley Street, Brockport.

The concert includes the premiere of a new solo, “Color Me,” choreographed and performed by sophomore Annika Winters. This piece plays with powerful momentum and fragile isolation exploring how the perceptions of others influence how we see ourselves. The evening also presents “sol·ip·sism” by Rachel Greene, a junior. Greene’s work explores both the existential and absurd; four characters continuously shift and recreate themselves inside a fluctuating illusory world around them. Artistic director and associate professor of dance Kaley Pruitt adds that “the night of varied choreography will also feature thought provoking works by undergraduate dance majors Heather Boorman, Daniella Goodfriend, Ally Lloyd, Sydney Matlik, Khristian Moffett, Eiley Thompson, Lily Wegerski, Maria Wheeler, and Anna White.”
