BOCES 2 CTE students’ skills on display at SkillsUSA Regionals

BOCES 2 Career and Technical Education (CTE) students demonstrated their skills on March 4 at the SkillsUSA New York Area 1 Regionals, bringing home three-first place finishes and medals in five additional competitions.
Three BOCES 2 CTE students claimed first place in their respective competitions. Culinary Arts student Avery Frisch (Spencerport) earned gold in Action Skills Basic. Digital and Visual Communication student Adalyn Stott (Brockport) took the top spot in T-Shirt Design. Baking student Jessica Sushko (Churchville-Chili) was the best in Baking and Pastry Arts.
A second-place finish was achieved by Carpentry student Maddox LaJuett (Brockport) in Carpenter Assist Basic.
Individual third-place finishes were earned by three BOCES 2 CTE students: Nurse Assisting and Associated Health Careers student Olivia Lagas (Hilton) in Nurse Assisting; Carpentry student Adam Frech (Greece Arcadia) in Carpentry; and Auto Body and Collision Repair Technology student Racelyn Lippa (Gates Chili) in Collision Repair Technology.
In a teamwork competition, three Nurse Assisting and Associated Health Careers students combined for a third-place finish in Quiz Bowl: Prashila Chuhan (Wheatland-Chili), Aydien Jarvis (Hilton) and Madison Zarpentine (Hilton).
In addition to student achievements, BOCES 2 CTE SkillsUSA Lead Advisor and Dental Assisting teacher Jennifer Probst was named New York State SkillsUSA Area 1 Advisor of the Year.
These students will move on to the state competition on April 24.
