Byron-Bergen names new Transportation Coordinator
Byron-Bergen Central School District has named Robert Wilkins as its new Transportation Coordinator.
He has been with the District for 12 years in the roles of bus driver, cleaner, Head Bus Driver, and, on occasion, mechanic. In this role, he will coordinate the Transportation Department staff and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of students to and from school and school-related activities.
“Transportation is vital to the success of every district,” said Byron-Bergen Superintendent, Pat McGee. “I am confident that Bob has the expertise to lead the department with continued excellence.”
Wilkins’ career in transportation began in his youth when he aspired to be a NASCAR driver or to build custom cars. Wilkins enjoys his job, especially greeting the elementary students (who know him as Mr. Bob) each morning as they get off the buses to start their school day.
Prior to coming to Byron-Bergen, Wilkins worked as a mechanic, contractor, heavy equipment operator and repairperson, refuse collector, oil delivery person, petroleum delivery dispatcher, and professional musician.
His first official day as Transportation Coordinator was September 29, 2025.
