Brockport celebrates Walk to School Day 2025

Brockport’s 20th Annual Walk to School Day was celebrated on a beautiful, sunny October 1 morning. Five hundred forty-three students from pre-K to 12th grade celebrated the fun and health benefits of walking to school with friends, classmates, and parents.
Barclay School once again took home the honor of having the highest percentage of walkers at 48% and will retain the coveted Walk to School trophy. The winner of the Oliver Middle School competition is the 6th-grade class, with 12% of the class walking. Their class will be engraved on the Walk to School plaque exhibited in the school.
New this year is an ice cream party, donated by Wegmans, for the classroom with the highest percentage of walkers in each elementary school. At Hill School, the winning class is Ms. Wilson’s, with 48% of her students walking; at Barclay School, the winner is Ms. Macdonald’s class, with 59% of her students walking; and at Ginther School, the winner is Ms. Morgan’s class, with 60% of her students walking. Congratulations!!

What makes this annual event so special is the community involvement: Brockport Central School administration, students, and PTSA; service groups such as Brockport Kiwanis Club and Harsch-Crisp-Seaman American Legion Post 379; businesses such as Tim Horton’s, Wegmans, Bill Gray’s, Our Village Optician, and The Strand Theatre; local farms (Kalir, Robb, and Kirby); health facilities and programs (Oak Orchard Health and Strong West), SUNY Brockport (baseball, softball, women’s basketball, and flag football teams); and the Brockport police department. Thank you all!
Finally, we would love to have you join our committee. Give us a call.
