The Churchville-Chili Board of Education approved the appointment of Sara Missell as the district’s new Director of STEM during its September 22 meeting.
Missell has served as the Math Professional Development Specialist for Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development since 2014, where she has led PK-12 curriculum, assessment, and instructional improvement initiatives aligned to New York State Standards, supporting coherent implementation and continuous improvement across component districts. Prior to her role at BOCES, Missell was a Secondary Math Teacher and served as the Math Department Chairperson at the Aquinas Institute for three years. Missell is also an Adjunct Professor at Roberts Wesleyan University, where she has been teaching since 2011.
Missell holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration, a Master of Science in Adolescence Mathematics Education, and her New York State Professional Teaching Certificate in Mathematics for grades 7-12 from SUNY Brockport, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from the University of Rochester.
As Director of STEM, Missell will lead the math, science, technology, and career and technical education teams through curriculum development, adoption, resource attainment, and alignment. She will also oversee the STEM instructional programs and integrate instructional technology across PreK-12.
“I’m incredibly excited and honored to join the Churchville-Chili Central School District as the new Director of STEM,” said Missell. “I look forward to working alongside our talented educators, staff, students, and community partners. Together, we’ll build on the great work already happening and create meaningful opportunities for all students to grow, explore, and thrive in STEM.”
“We are excited to welcome Sara to the Churchville-Chili family,” said Superintendent Carmine Peluso. “Her deep expertise in mathematics education, curriculum leadership, and professional learning will help strengthen our STEM programs and expand opportunities for students across all grade levels. Sara’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and student success makes her an outstanding addition to our leadership team, and we look forward to the impact she will have on our schools and community.”
Missell will begin her role as Director of STEM on October 30, 2026.
