#4 Kendall boys defeat Bees

Ranked fourth in New York State Class D as of October 6, the Kendall Eagles boys soccer team scored three second half goals on the road to defeat Byron-Bergen 4-1.
Sage Summers forced a turnover in the 29th minute and fed a touch pass to Alex Sutphen. His shot hit the post, but he put in his own rebound to stake the Eagles to a 1-0 lead.
Kendall made it 2-0 just 43 seconds into the second half when Justin Barrett scored into the lower right corner of the net off header passes from first Riley Iqbal and then Sutphen.
Barrett contributed to the third Kendall tally feeding a pass to Sutphen, whose shot was blocked. The rebound came out to Iqbal, who scored.
Byron-Bergen broke up the shutout bid in the 60th minute after the goalkeeper used his hands outside the box, which resulted in a direct kick from 20 yards out. Andrew Sczapanski put the ball just under the crossbar to close the Kendall lead to 3-1.
The Eagles scored the clincher in the 67th minute as William Condo scored with an assist from Iqbal.
“We find ways to put the ball in the net,” said Kendall second year head coach Brian Duffy. “We know they are well-coached and they adjusted their game; we just had to score differently.
“The difference this year (from last) is that we now expect to win and are playing as a team.”
Kendall moved up one spot to fourth in the New York State Sportswriters poll trailing top-ranked Lansing, Friends Academy and S.S. Seward.
