Area fall college sports honors

•Freshmen Brandon Grzywacz (Holley) shot a final round 75 and Tyler Hill (Brockport) shot a 78 to help Monroe CC to sixth place finish at the NJCCA National Championships at Chautauqua Golf Club’s Lake Course. Both finished at 233 on the tournament, good for a tie for 28th place.

•Churchville-Chili product Miranda Colon was one of five Monroe Community College women’s soccer players named to the 2013 Region III, Division I All-Region team. The sophomore had a goal and four assists and anchored a defense that allowed just 12 goals in 18 games.

•Hilton grad Tim Beauvais from Cortland was named to the SUNYAC men’s soccer First Team as goalkeeper and named the 2013 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Academic Player of the Year and honored with the Fred Holloway Award. The Cortland junior goalie achieved the highest cumulative grade point average among the first and second All-Conference Teams.

•The College at Brockport had five All-SUNYAC men’s soccer selections in First Team forward Peter DiLorenzo and D-Bobby Ross, Second Team goalkeeper Casey Sullivan and Third Team picks Ryan Phillips (Brockport HS) on defense and Christopher O’Gorman at midfield.

•Brockport High School grad and College at Brockport freshman forward Chelsea Stahl was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year and a Third Team All-SUNYAC women’s soccer selection. Teammates Katie Gildemeyer (First Team), Vanessa Gillette and Courtney Szczesniak were each Second Team.

•Four members of the Genesee Community College women’s soccer team were  named to the NJCAA Division III Region III 2013 Women’s Soccer All-Region Team. Sophomore forward Dana Hansen (Hilton) and freshman midfielder Ashley Makowski (Kendall) were among four GCC women’s soccer players named to the All-Region First Team. Hansen scored a team-leading 14 goals and also added eight assists and accounted for the game-winning goal in four games. Makowski played in all 18 games this fall for Genesee and scored 12 goals – including four game-winners – with 12 assists. First year head coach Jeff Reyngoudt was also named the 2013 Western New York Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

•Freshman midfielder Jamie Maskell (Byron-Bergen) was one of four members of the Genesee Community College men’s soccer team named to the NJCAA Region III Division III Men’s Soccer 2013 All-Region Team. One of only four Cougars to appear in every game, Maskell scored one goal offensively and held a large role in Genesee’s defensive efforts, which included a 1.81 goals against average.

•The Roberts Wesleyan Women’s Cross Country team won the NCCAA Women’s Cross Country National Championship on the heels of second place finisher Rachel Prutsman to earn the first-ever national championship in program history. The national title is the first for the Redhawks in 20 years when the men’s team won the NCCAA championship.

•Brockport’s Rachel Malone was named First Team All-SUNYAC in cross country as a top-five finisher at the conference meet. In field hockey, Golden Eagle senior Jessica Blind was a First Team pick and freshman goalie Lindsay Farrell Second Team.

•Former Churchville-Chili teammates Ellie Swan and freshman Bella Mitrevski were named to the East Coast Conference’s All-Conference Second Team. Mitrevski had a stellar debut season for the Redhawks as she finished the regular season tied for first on the team with a total of 23 points and led the conference in assists. Swan completed the season second on the team with 14 points with three of her goals game-winners.

•Churchville-Chili’s Austin Gerber led Keuka College’s men’s soccer program in goals this season with ten. Ben Schrieber (Hilton) and Joe Maier (Spencerport) also finished in the top-five on the team in scoring while sophomore goalkeeper Preston Vick (Kendall) led the team with four wins.

•Freshman Victoria Grisdale (Hilton) led Keuka College women’s cross country team’s fastest runner in five of six meets this year.
