The weeks-long process of building an outdoor hockey rink at Frontier Field in Rochester is nearly complete and ten days of activities are scheduled to begin starting with the Rochester Americans hosting Lake Erie on December 13 at 7 p.m.
Among the many activities surrounding the event are ten high school hockey games featuring each of the four local teams and a three-on-three Pond Hockey Tournament slated for December 20 with 32 adult teams competing.
Each team for the three-on-three tourney will have access to the baseball locker rooms for dressing while the sponsor tent will feature live music and giveaways.
Included with the event lineup, the RIT women and men will play Clarkson and Niagara, respectively, on December 14 and Nazareth, a second year program at the Division III level, will battle Geneseo on December 15 at noon followed by a Jr. Sabres game at 2:30 p.m. and a Sabres/Amerks alumni game at 5 p.m.
Among the high school contests involving local teams, Hilton plays Irondequoit on Sunday, December 21 at 1 p.m. while Churchville-Chili, Brockport and Spencerport play consecutive games on Sunday, December 22 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
Ice time also available for outside groups such as open skates, youth leagues, men’s league games and corporate outings.
