Saints press Rangers
Churchville-Chili used a full court press to limit Spencerport to just 11 points over the first two-and-a-half quarters and won 45-29 in girls basketball.
Spencerport jumped out to a 6-0 lead as Chelsey Wilbern hit a runner, Michela Contestable a lay-up and Bri Campbell on a break, but the Saints quickly tied the game on their next three possessions and allowed the Rangers to score just two more points in the quarter and four over a nine minute period.
Saints guard Brooke Ennis scored eight of her game total of ten points in the second quarter to extend the lead to 28-10 at halftime.
It became a 26 point lead after three quarters before the Rangers staged a bit of a last quarter comeback outscoring the Saints 12-6 with Campbell hitting all four of her free throws, Jackie Marasco a put-back, Wilbern on a drive and Morgan Schreiner a jumper.
The Saints’ Maggie Tabone and Ennis each had a game-high ten points while Ennis and Olivia Lewis each had a game-high seven rebounds. Kassiami Strembenis and Jessica Hyde each had eight points with Hyde adding seven steals to help C-C win their second game of the season with their first coming in the season-opener.
For the Rangers, Wilbern finished with a team-high seven points, Campbell had six, Contestable five points and three blocks and Schreiner added four points.
