Hilton’s Schwartzmeier named First-Team All-State C-C’s Paul Fricano, Brockport’s Beaver second team
Hilton Cadets senior lineman August Schwartzmeier was named Class AA First Team Offense All-State by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
The Cadets finished the regular season with a 4-3 overall record and entered the Section V playoffs as the seventh seed, but upset second-seed Webster-Schroeder 30-20 in the quarterfinals before falling to Rush-Henrietta in the semi-finals. His blocking helped running back Dillon Philmon run for 308 yards on a school record 47 carries and score all four Hilton touchdowns in the Schroeder win.
Churchville-Chili senior placekicker Paul Fricano was named Class A Second-Team All-State while Brockport senior lineman Damon Beaver was Second Team Defense All-State.
Saints quarterback John Iaccuci and lineman Sam Egan were Class A Honorable Mention. Andy Underhill of Byron-Bergen/Elba was also named Class C Honorable Mention at linebacker.
Brockport finished the season 7-1 and seeded first for the Sectional playoffs. They defeated Spencerport in the quarterfinals before being upset by Victor. Churchville-Chili was 5-3 and seeded sixth. They were beaten by Wilson in the quarterfinals.
