Sports teams donate to More Than A Game effort
The More Than A Game Foundation, Cam’s Pizzeria and Spencerport Central School District hosted the 17th Annual Hoops for the Hospital Basketball Tournament in December and the 23rd Annual Coach “Chow” Girls Basketball Classic on January 10 and 11.
Together with the Spencerport Winter Cheerleaders and basketball teams from Brockport, Canandaigua, West Irondequoit and Webster Schroeder, a donation will be made in the amount of $6,000.83 to the More Than A Game Foundation Hoops for Hospitals program in the name and memory of Donald “Coach Chow” Wierzchowski. “Coach Chow” was a long-time and very popular Spencerport girls basketball coach who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in May 2002.
All proceeds from this tournament are directed to the More Than A Game Foundation for the Hoops for Hospital program and will benefit the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.
