Surrounded by family, friends and coaches, two Hilton seniors signed letters of intent to play Division I sports. August “Gusty” Schwartzmeier will be playing football for the University at Buffalo this fall. The defensive tackle said he liked the coaching staff and wanted to attend a college that was close to home. His most memorable moment as a Hilton Cadet was the game ending sack during the first game of the season against East High.
Tyler Ranke will be heading to the University of Albany where he will compete in track and field. Tyler said that the Great Danes made him the best offer and that he likes the campus, team and coach. His most memorable moment Hilton Cadet achievement was placing third in nationals.
Athletic Director Michael Giruzzi said that he, along with the students’ families, coaches and Hilton School District community couldn’t be more proud to have two Cadets going on to play Division I college sports.
