Bright Raven gymnastics wins big at Judges Cup
Bright Raven Gymnastics captured first place honors in both the Compulsory and Optional team competition at the Annual 2014 Judges Cup held November 22-23 in Rochester. The top scores in levels 3, 4 and 5 were combined to win the Compulsory division and the highest scores in levels 6, 7 and 8 were combined to win the Optional division.
Many Bright Raven Team members took first place honors in individual competition, as well. In the Level 8 senior competition, Megan Winter of Greece took first place all around (36.875) and first in every event: vault (8.90), uneven parallal bars (9.375), balance beam (9.20) and floor exercise (9.40). In the Level 7 senior division, Morgan Vanderhoof of Chili took first on balance beam (9.05) and teammate Gabrielle Coster of Gates earned first place on vault (9.50, bars (9.45), floor (9.575) and all around (37.475).
The Compulsory levels had many first place winners also. In the Level 3 senior competition, Jessica Pelkey of Caledonia took first on vault scoring a perfect 10.00. She also took first place on floor (9.70) and all around (38.05). McKenna Keisel of Chili was first on bars (9.55) and beam (9.40) in the same division. In the Level 3 junior division, Katrina Daly of Spencerport took first on vault (9.80). In the Level 4 senior division, Katelyn Burtnick of Spencerport was first on beam (9.45), Naimah Muhammad of Rochester was first on vault (9.20) and Graciela Viera of Churchville was first on floor (9.70) and first all around (37.20). In the Level 5 senior division, NiaWilliams-Matthews of Rochester was first on vault (9.20), Madison Maas of Churchville was first on balance beam (9.20).
The Judges Cup is an annual competition sponsored by the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Officials of New York North.
