Rangers rout on senior night
Kyle Pittman, Ryan Cottom and Brenden Budd won their bouts by pin and Neil Egenlauf by technical fall as Spencerport defeated visiting Canandaigua 54-22 in high school wrestling.
Seniors Brandon DiNatale, Nathan Ehle, Kaleb Pascoe, Enzo Sacchetti and Phil Wicks were each honored prior to the match.
Tyler Mitchell got the Rangers off to a fast start as his third period takedown helped him overcome a 2-1 deficit and win 3-2 at 99 lb.
After Max Wersinger won via forfeit, Wicks won his 113 lb. match by major decision 11-0.
Dom Ferranti, in the tightest contest of the night, went to the fourth overtime period before escaping and earn a 2-1 decision at 120 lb.
Egenlauf registered eight points in the second period in his 15-0 tech fall win at 126 lb. and Marek Costner won via forfeit at 138 lb. to put the Rangers up 27-6.
At 145 lb., Pittman barely beat the final horn to pin his man in 5:59 after five takedowns over the three periods. At 152, Sacchetti escaped in the second overtime and held his man down for a 2-1 decision.
Cottom took 2:12 to register his fall at 195 lb. while Budd needed 3:27 to do the same at 220 lb. Sam Bianchi concluded the match with a forfeit win at 285 lb.
