Brockport Central School District’s students showed their spirit leading up to Homecoming 2015 by participating in themed days the week of September 21 through 25. Themes included ‘70s Day, Tropical Tuesday, Twin Day, Dead History Day and, of course, Blue and White Day. Excitement built on Friday as pep rallies took place in the middle and high schools.
The fun continued with a parade through the Brockport CSD campus, complete with bands, floats, class kings and queens, class skits, community groups and even horses.
New this year was the homecoming festival. The festival drew thousands to the Brockport CSD campus. “When we started with the idea of a homecoming festival we had no idea it would be such a huge success. We loved having the community vendors here, the food truck rodeo, how many people joined the parade, having the Brockport Teacher’s Association here running carnival games and having the music from DJ Orlando Benzan,” said class of 2016 co-advisors, Christine Howlett and Heather Fuenfstueck. Organizers say after this year’s success, another homecoming festival will take place next year.
The day wrapped up with a football game against West Irondequoit. As the 3,000 students, staff and community members cheered on the varsity football team, only standing room became available. The Blue Devils improved their record to 4-0 with an impressive 20-6 win over the Eagles.
