Gates senior runner Bruce Rychwalski, 66, was one of five local runners chosen to receive the Fleet Feet Sports/Mizuno Power of Running to Inspire Award. Receipt of the award included a pair of Mizuno Wave Inspire 12 running shoes, an online story and photo gallery, in-store awards celebration and entry into the national contest.
Five runners total will receive national recognition across all 150+ Fleet Feet Sports Stores and receive $500 for continuing their inspirational running efforts. If chosen nationally, Rychwalski plans to donate the $500 to the University of Rochester Medical Center Karen Decker Cardiomyopathy Fund. (Rychwalski was diagnosed with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy in April 2011).
