C-C senior Cheyenne Clark signs National Letter of Intent to University of Albany

Churchville-Chili High School Saints varsity lacrosse player Cheyenne Clark has received a partial athletic scholarship to her chosen college, the State University of New York at Albany (UAlbany), to play for the Division 1 Great Danes. The Great Danes are currently listed at #17 in the nation in the most recent ILWomen’s Media Poll.

Clark began her career in lacrosse in eighth-grade at the junior varsity level, and has been a four-year varsity starter at Churchville-Chili High School. For the 2017 season, she has played midfield and defense for the Saints. Clark plans to major in biology at UAlbany.

Her first coach, Middle School teacher Scott French, remembers her determination and passion for the sport. “She battled many injuries that first year,” he said. “But she was committed and in love with lacrosse. That enthusiasm has never left her, and we are all excited that she has received this great opportunity.”

Saints’ varsity lacrosse coach Matt Kleehammer said, “Cheyenne has been playing lacrosse for a very long time. Sometimes when you have athletes participating in a sport for a great number of years, their attitude toward the sport becomes complacent. Cheyenne’s attitude toward the sport of girls’ lacrosse has not deteriorated or leveled off. With time, her attitude has become more positive. This is especially refreshing to see for any player, but extremely important and a necessity for a player intending to compete at the next level. For the last four years, Cheyenne has been a constant for our girls’ lacrosse team. I wish her luck as she heads to the next phase of her lacrosse career.”
