Cadets trounce Warriors

Hilton registered two pins, three technical falls and received five forfeits on their way to a 63-13 victory over visiting Webster-Schroeder in boy’s wrestling. The Cadets entered the match ranked third in the state among large schools in the first New York State Sportswriters poll released January 1.

Ryan Hinman pinned his man in 1:45 at 132 lb. while Mike Franczak did the same in 3:08 at 145 lb. for Hilton.

Rocco Camillaci began the match at 99 lb. with a third period technical fall after building a 14-1 second period advantage.

Greg Diakomihalis (113 lb.) racked up 19 points over the first two minutes in his 19-4 tech fall. Ryan Burgos was almost as dominant in building a 13-3 first period lead before finishing his 21-6 tech fall with four second period takedowns at 120 lb.

Cadet Nate Lee had one of the more exciting bouts of the evening as his reverse with only three seconds remaining in the third overtime gave him a 3-1 win at 106 lb.

Codey Bailey also took overtime to finish his 152 lb. match with a fourth period takedown and near fall in a 5-1 decision.

Jacob Brunette (170 lb.), Sammy DePrez (182 lb.), Thomas Foos (195 lb.), Nate Whybra (220 lb.) and Collin Burns (285 lb.) all received forfeits for the Cadets.
