Mundt registers double-double in Rangers loss

Senior Noah Mundt scored a team-high 13 points and added 12 rebounds, but Spencerport could not get their offense in sync in a 56-45 loss to Webster-Thomas in boy’s basketball.

The Titans hit four of their first five three-point attempts, but the Rangers Malcom McCollough kept the game close with a put-back, a steal and two lay-ups sandwiching a trey from Josh Reding.

A one-point Titans lead at the end of the first quarter became five points at halftime as the Rangers got a three-pointer by Evan Clarke and a lay-up from Ben Reding for their only points of the period.

A pair of put-backs and a free throw by Mundt along with two treys by Clarke and a lay-up by JJ Jenkins got the Rangers to trailing 36-33 after three quarters, but they could not find another field goal until halfway through the fourth as the Titans built the lead to ten.

In addition to Mundt, Clarke was in double-figures with 11 points, McCollough had six points, six rebounds and two steals and both Josh Reding and Alton Jones Jr. each added five points.

The Rangers shot just four-of-ten from the free throw line as they fell to 6-8 on the season.
