Brongo’s rally Rangers

Sydney and Maddy Brongo stroked two-out RBI singles as Spencerport scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning in a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Churchville-Chili in girl’s softball.

The Saints built their 1-0 first inning lead to 3-0 in the second. Junior Alex Erickson and senior Maria Esposito both walked and eventually scored on three consecutive wild pitches.

Spencerport plated one run in their half of the second as Kathleen Stewart walked with courtesy runner Amber White taking her spot at first. After a wild pitch put her at second, White scored on an error with two outs.

In the deciding fourth inning, freshman Sami Moschettieri led off with a single and went to second on a one-out single by classmate Alayna Berry. Kaylee Wikander walked to load the bases before, after a foul out, Sydney Brongo came through with a two-RBI single to center to tie the game 3-3. Maddy Brongo followed with an RBI single scoring Wikander from third for what would prove to be the game-winning run.

The Saints had a runner in scoring position in the fifth, but had a runner thrown out at the plate trying to score on a force at second, In the seventh, a leadoff walk was retired on a game-ending 5-4-3 double play.
