Leibert, Ignaszak pace Blue Devil win

Senior Quinlan Ignaszak threw five innings of three-hit shutout ball and sophomore Troy Leibert drove in three runs and earned the save with two innings of hitless relief as Brockport topped Greece Arcadia 7-0 on senior day.

Leibert broke up the 0-0 game with a one-out solo home run to left in the fifth inning.

The Blue Devils broke the game open with a six-run sixth as senior Cole Penders led off with a single and took third one out later on a hit-and-run single by classmate Ashton Scott. Senior Frank Lauricella drove in Penders with a bad-hop RBI single to right and Scott later scored from third on a throwing error by the pitcher on a comebacker to make it 3-0.

Nick Nealon reached on another throwing error before Leibert drove in two runs with a double. He crossed the plate on a triple to left-center by senior Joshua Keenan to increase the lead to 6-0. Sam Velletri plated Keenan with an RBI single for the final run.

Ignaszak was the story on the mound allowing two singles and walking three while striking out six in five-plus innings of work.

He gave way to Leibert after allowing a leadoff double in the sixth inning, but the Titans could only get the runner to third before the inning ended on a great diving stop by the third baseman and scoop at first.

Leibert struck out the side in the seventh.

Aside from Keenan, Scott, Penders, Lauricella and Ignaszak, seniors Ryan Oliva, Zach LaMere, James Atkins, Gordon Fisher, Noah Schultz, Jacob Jurhs and Dominic Passafiume all were honored prior to their final home regular season contest.

Brockport finished the regular season with an 11-7 record and seeded third in Class A1 for the Section V playoffs.
