Blue Devils drop third straight
Sophomore Jeremiah Rausch staked Brockport to a 1-0 lead just 148 seconds into the contest, but Irondequoit skated away with a 4-1 victory in Monroe County High School Hockey league action.
Rausch pounded home the rebound of a Matthew Heyden shot at 2:28 of the first period for his fifth goal of the season, but Irondequoit tied it seven minutes later.
The Eagles took a 2-1 lead as they converted a second period three-on-one break.
The Blue Devils gained an early third period power play, but a Mathew Gemerek rebound attempt from a Luke Leach shot hit the post and stayed out.
Junior Michael Holding later was stopped on a shorthanded breakaway. The Blue Devils saw another try for the tying goal on a two-on-one break with 6:30 remaining in regulation fall short as the puck rolled along the goal-line, but never across it.
Irondequoit got some breathing room with a goal at 13:50 of the third on a rebound and iced the game with an empty-net tally at 14:19.
Brockport senior goaltender Liam Schreiner was credited with 29 saves in net, but suffered the loss for the 3-10 Blue Devils.
The team has five games remaining in the regular season with senior night happening February 7.
