Boys win gold in USA Gymnastics New York State Championships
The Bright Raven Gymnastics boys teams had a strong showing at the 2019 USA Gymnastics New York State Championships, held at The College at Brockport on March 16 and 17, emerging with 10 State Champions and many gymnasts qualifying to advance to Regional Competition. Three local boys were among those winning state championships.
The Level 10 team finished in third place with 15-year-old Justin Ciccone of Greece earning gold for his performance in the vault and all-around competition. Ciccone also went on to win in the Junior Elite competition taking first place in floor exercise, vault, rings and high bar.
In the Junior Developmental competition for ages 11-12, Matthew Rowe of North Chili earned first in floor exercise. In the 13-14 age division, Deven Weeden of North Chili earned first place in floor exercise.
Several members of the Bright Raven team qualified to advance in USA Gymnastics competition. Milo Anderson was named to the Level 6 New York State Team by placing in the top 10 all around across age divisions. He will travel to West Point April 28 to compete in the Region 7 State Team Championships where he will help New York take on the teams from New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
The following gymnasts will also be moving on to compete in the Region VII Championships April 4 through 7 in Landover, Maryland: Ryan Buick (Level 10), Justin Ciccone (Level 10), Ryan Dugan (Level 10), Cole Pringle (Level 10), Ethan Rio (Level 10), Drew Ahlastrom (Level 7), Mateo Poole (Level 7), Evan Gieneu (Level 7), Taiga Tani (Level 6), Alex MacFarlane (Level 6), Caleb Lantz (Level 6), Milo Anderson (Level 6), Kash Ames (Level 6) and Luke Sykora (Level 6).
