Leibert leads Blue Devils
Junior Troy Leibert tossed six innings of two-hit baseball while scoring two runs and driving in another as Brockport defeated visiting Hilton 5-1 in boys baseball to pick up their seventh win of the season.
Leibert led off the bottom of the second inning with a double and was promptly doubled home on a double to right by sophomore Nick Johnson to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead.
They added four unearned runs in their half of the third as both Nick Nealon and senior CJ Wiest, playing in his final regular season home game, reached on errors. Leibert drove in Nealon with a single and Johnson followed with another single to center scoring Wiest. Another base hit from eighth-grader Devyn Scheidt loaded the bases before right fielder Tyler Henshaw reached on the third infield error of the inning allowing two runs to score.
Hilton managed to scratch out an unearned run of their own in the top of the fourth inning as center fielder Gavin Moore drew a one-out walk, advanced to second on an error which allowed Tyler Koster to reach and scored on the third infield error of the inning for the Cadets only offense.
Leibert struck out four and walked two while allowing just the two hits over his six innings while Wiest got out of a two-on jam without allowing a run in the seventh inning.
Junior Jason Story led the Hilton offense with a pair of hits with senior Josh Battaglia and junior Dylan Boprey collecting the other two hits for the 10-8 Cadets.
