Football field at Town of Parma Park ready for use
Earlier this year, the United States District Court, Western District of New York reviewed the work that the Town of Parma completed last fall to eliminate the high levels of arsenic that were found in the soils located within area of the football field located in the Town Park.
The Town Board, working with John Chart who brought this issue to the Town Board, aggressively attacked the problem by bringing in over 2,100 cubic yards of clean topsoil, which equated to six inches of cover over the existing football field. The area was then seeded last fall and is now nice and green.
In its decision, the court removed all restrictions in regards to the use and maintenance of the field. The Town now looks forward to the field being used again by park visitors.
