Alumni of Brockport’s women’s soccer program invited to breakfast
The College at Brockport women’s soccer program is introducing a new event to their calendar in 2019 – The Alumni Breakfast and Networking Session.
The inaugural event will be held on September 28, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Eagle Lookout room on the campus of The College at Brockport and in conjunction with the college’s Homecoming Weekend.
Alumni and the current Brockport Women’s Soccer team will enjoy breakfast together as an alumnus of the program addresses the team as a keynote speaker. This will be followed immediately by a breakout session during which alumni and current players will break off into groups according to their occupations and career ambitions respectively to provide a platform for mentoring, guidance, and networking for the student-athletes from the alumni. Following the breakfast, the Golden Eagles will take on SUNY Oswego in SUNYAC play at 1 p.m. on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
Head Coach Mike Idland is enthusiastic about the potential benefits the new event offers. “I think this is going to be a really rewarding experience for both the players and the alumni,” Idland said. “Enjoying a meal together and hearing some words of wisdom and inspiration from a BWS alum before a big game will go a long way on the field, and tapping into the elaborate professional network that exists within the alumni base has potential to go an even longer way off the field.”
Any alumni interested in attending the breakfast, participating in the breakout session, or serving as keynote speaker should contact head coach Mike Idland directly at midland@brockport.edu.
