Sagan helps Blue Devils swamp Batavia
Junior Elizabeth Sagan won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team, and Brockport finished one-two in four different races as they defeated Batavia 100-66 in girls swimming.
Sagan took first in the 50-freetyle in :25.16 beating her closest competitor by three-tenths of one second and was the only swimmer to beat the one-minute mark in the 100-freestyle winning in :58.62.
She swam lead in the 200-freestyle relay with seniors Livia Stepanek and Marlayna DiFante with freshman KhaNy Sangasy as the group touched the pad first in 1:50.34 – a full 11 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
DiFante won the 200-freestyle in 2:13.01 and sophomore Natalie Utz took top honors in the 500-freestyle in 6:24.33.
The Blue Devils swept all three top spots in diving led by freshman Kassidy Tully’s 216.30 points.
Stepanek helped the Brockport depth with a pair of individual second place finishes with junior Liliya Grego (200-indidual medley), freshman Emma Hopsicker (diving), Sangasy (100-butterfly), junior Amanda Giardina (500) and senior Margaret Hanson (100-backstroke) also taking runner-up spots in their respective events.
